Sony Announces Limited Edition PS4 Pro To Celebrate 500M Sold Consoles
Celebrations are in order for Sony and the PlayStation brand. Over 500 million consoles in the PlayStation family have been sold, and to celebrate, Sony is releasing a limited edition PS4 Pro console with a transparent design for $499.
The 500 million Limited Edition version of the PlayStation 4 Pro – the stronger variant of the PS4 – will come with a 2TB hard drive built-in and the design of the DualShock 4 controller and the included PlayStation camera has been adapted as well. Only 50,000 of these consoles will be produced, and the item is already a hot commodity on the pre-order market.
Aside from the PS4 Pro console, which features a transparent blue design with a couple of golden touches, Sony will also release a ‘500 million’ version of the Gold Wireless Headset. This also isn’t the first time that Sony has released a very limited edition console, as they celebrated the 20th anniversary of the PlayStation brand with a limited edition grey console back in 2014.
This new limited edition of the PS4 Pro will release on August 24th. Given the popularity and hype surrounding the product, it’s probably best to pre-order in advance to secure one of the 50,000 available consoles worldwide. No games will be bundled with the package.
