Xiaomi Releases 7.1 Surround Gaming Headset
Popular Chinese electronics and smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has released its first gaming headset. The product, simply known as the Xiaomi Gaming Headset, offers support for virtual 7.1 surround sound, which should be helpful in determining the location of sounds in games.
The gaming headset is available for purchase right now in China but hasn’t been released internationally yet. However – as is the case with most Xiaomi products, it’s always possible to import a product ahead of its international release. The price tag is set at 349 Chinee Yuan, which amounts to about $55 USD. It appears that the first batch of the Xiaomi Gaming Headset is already sold out.
The manufacturer is heavily promoting it’s virtual 7.1 surround feature, and it’s quite remarkable that 7.1 is available on a relatively inexpensive headset. The company says it provides an advantage in shooters and other action games. Notably, the headset features two microphones, with one being used for noise canceling. The exterior of the Xiaomi Gaming Headset is completely black, although two sleek customizable RGB LEDs are available as well.
Xiaomi says that the gaming headset is compatible with both computers, mobile devices, and consoles as you can connect the device via either a 3.5mm jack or USB.
