High-End Honor 10 Smartphone Revealed
Rumors of a high-end smartphone by Honor have been circulating a while, and the company has now officially unveiled its top Honor 10 smartphone. Honor – a daughter company of Huawei – previously only released entry-level and mid-range Android devices. The Honor 10 will release as soon as 27th of April in China, but the phone will release worldwide in the middle of May.
The Honor 10 will feature an iPhone X-like notch which houses the front-facing camera as well as a small speaker. The phone uses a 5.84-inch display with 19:9 display ratio. The resolution is Full HD at 1080 x 2280 pixels.
Honor uses a HiSilicon Kirin 970 – which is a part of Huawei – coupled with six gigabytes of internal memory. The Honor 10 will come in two different versions, one with 64 GB of storage and another with double the amount of capacity. Both versions of the phone lack a MicroSD card slot for expandable storage.
A fingerprint scanner is located at the back, and some text at the back of the device shows that the camera app will feature some sort of AI, perhaps similar to the artificial intelligence features already present in the Huawei Mate P20 series.
As is the trend with the latest smartphones, the Honor 10 will feature a dual-camera setup at the back. There’s a regular 16-megapixel shooter with a f/1.8 aperture while the secondary camera allows for 24-megapixels monochrome shots with a f/1.8 aperture as well. Notably, the Honor 10 does feature a 3.5 mm audio jack, as well as USB Type C. Unfortunately, the Type C port only works up to USB 2.0 speeds. Battery capacity is rated at 3400 mAH and it supports Huawei’s fast-charge standard.
The phone will be made available in three colors: blue, black, purple and grey. The Honor 10 will ship with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, with the EMUI 8.1 graphical layer on top. Although American prices haven’t been announced yet, the company has released the recommended retail price tags in China. The 64 GB version costs $410, while the larger version sells for $474.
