MSI Introduces Gaming Laptops With Hexacore Coffee Lake Processors
In addition to the new releases of the Intel Coffee Lake chips for desktops, laptop manufacturers are now releasing new versions of their laptops with the updated processor line as well. MSI has given its line-up of gaming laptops a much-needed refresh with the newer Coffee Lake chips, and this marks the first time that an Intel hexacore is available in consumer laptops.
MSI has updated the GL, GP, GE and GT gaming laptops. The GL63 and GL73 Leopard with 15.6- and a 17.3-inch display, respectively, will now come with a Core i5 8300H or Core i7 8750H, both of which are six-core CPUs. Other specifications are a Nvidia GTX 1050 for the smaller model, while the larger brother features a GTX 1050 Ti. The screen resolution measures at 1920 x 1080 pixels, there’s 8 GB of internal memory, a 128 GB SSD and 1 TB of additional hard drive storage.
Positioned slightly higher are the GP63 and GP73 Leopard gaming laptops which both come with the Core i7 8750H Coffee Lake CPU, which is another hexacore. These models will be available in both 8 and 16 GB RAM configurations and will feature either a 1050 Ti or GTX 1060. SSD Storage is 256 gigabytes large and features PCI-e 3.0 speeds on the larger model. Just like with the GL series, screen resolution is Full HD, but the display does feature a 120 Hz refresh rate and fast 3 millisecond response time.
The GE63 and GE73 laptops have been given a specification overhaul as well. These notebooks keep the same display with 120 Hz refresh rate, and the Core i7 8750H is present here as well. The GE63 will be equipped with a GTX 1060 while the more expensive version will come packed with a GTX 1070.
The GS series is known for its more sleeker and thinner exterior. The 15-inch version features a screen with a 144 Hz refresh rate, while the larger 17″ model has a screen with a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz. The GS73 will also come with an optional 4K display. The processor here is once again the Core i7 8750. The larger GS73 has room for a 256 GB PCIe SSD as well as a 1TB hard drive, while the smaller GS65 only has a 512 GB solid state drive.
The ultimate top of the line notebooks will come packed with the very best specifications. The GT63 and GT75 will have an optional 4K display and will be available with a Core u7 8750H, Core i7 8850H or an impressive Core i9 8950HK. Graphics are being handled by either a GTX 1070 or GTX 1080.
MSI’s largest laptop, the GT83 with a whopping 18.4-inch screen, features a Core i7 8850H, 32 gigabytes of internal memory and a whopping two GTX 1080 graphics cards in SLI.
