New Leaks Provide Details on Vivo’s Upcoming Smartphone
Late last year, it was announced that Vivo would be launching the Vivo XPlay7 sometime this year. In addition to three rear cameras, the phone would also feature an under-the-display fingerprint scanner.
While none of the details surrounding Vivo’s new phone have been confirmed, recent leaks on Chinese social media site Weibo do provide some new information regarding Vivo’s upcoming devices. According to the leaks, Vivo’s upcoming smartphone will continue the bezel-less trend we saw hit its stride in 2017. Vivo’s device will feature a 2.9 percent screen to body ratio and a 4K resolution.
However, there is some level of disagreement regarding the camera. As previously mentioned, earlier leaks mentioned a tri-camera set-up, but the more recent leaks suggest that the XPlay7 will only have a dual-camera set-up. The camera will apparently be made by Sony and will be capable of 4K.
In terms of specs, the phone will make use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor, 10GB of RAM and will have two options for internal storage. The first will be a 256MB and the second option will be for 512MB. There is no word on the battery size, but given the high quality of the rest of the phone’s specifications, we’re expecting something fairly powerful.
In addition to the aforementioned under-the-display fingerprint scanner, the phone will also feature a version of facial recognition similar to what is found on the iPhone X.
One thing to keep in mind is that none of these leaks are confirmed so everything should be taken with a grain of salt until Vivo makes an official announcement. That being said, it’s likely that we’ll get an official announcement sometime within a couple of months.
