Enhanced Versions of Classic Xbox Games Are Coming To the Xbox One
On Tuesday, October 24, the Xbox One will receive an update that will allow users to play 13 classic Xbox games.
The new feature was revealed at E3 2017, but it didn’t cause a major stir. However, Microsoft is hoping to drum up some hype for the update by making sure that the launch list includes a number of Xbox classics such as Knights of the Old Republic and Psychonauts.
- BloodRayne 2
- Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
- Dead to Rights
- Fuzion Frenzy
- Grabbed by the Ghoulies
- The King of Fighters Neowave
- Ninja Gaiden Black
- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
- Red Faction II
- Sid Meier’s Pirates!
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
The list is almost an exact match for one that Twitter user WalkingCat released this weekend. Black, a first-person-shooter, is the only game on the list that WalkingCat did not leak in their tweet.

Some of the games on this list such as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and the aforementioned KOTOR are already available to purchase on the Xbox marketplace starting at $10. Additionally, if you happen to have one of the original discs lying around, then you can use it once the update has been applied.
While these games don’t include any new features or content, they are receiving a significant visual upgrade which will allow them to be played in 1080p as opposed to the original Xbox’s 480p or 480i. Beyond that, they will feature increased frame rates and shorter loading times. None of these games are particularly rare so finding a copy alongside an original Xbox isn’t too difficult, but the visual upgrade combined with shorter load times will likely make these versions well worth a look.
In terms of multiplayer, those games which supported system link or local multiplayer will still have those features. However, online multiplayer will not exist since those games’ had their servers shut down years ago.
