iTunes Will Be Available For Download From The Windows Store
Apple is bringing the popular app iTunes to the Windows Store. The surprise announcement happened during Microsoft’s Build developer conference. Users have always been able to download iTunes on Windows 10, but they’ve had to seek it out. Now users will have the opportunity to search on the Windows Store for the desktop application. This means users on Windows 10 S will have the ability to use iTunes and all the great features.
While iTunes being on the Windows Store sounds unimportant, it’s important. iTunes is one of the most searched for apps in the Store. We may never see Chrome in the Windows Store because of the strict rules and requirements, but we’ll have iTunes. Microsoft will also need to attract Adobe’s Creative Cloud apps.
iTunes is one of the most searched for apps on the Windows Store
Basic users are searching in the Windows Store. They’re looking for a way to sync their phones or play Apple Music. Apple first brought iTunes to Windows, and many attributed the success of their platform to the app being cross platform. It is still the same old app, but it’s repacked for the Store. There isn’t a significant difference between the apps. You’ll still be able to download the iTunes desktop app online, outside the store. Most users will still download the app from online.
Either way, you cut it, Microsoft will get a big boost from Apple. Windows phone failed because it didn’t have core apps like Snapchat or Instagram. Microsoft is getting the “Instagram” and “Snapchat” of the Windows platform on their Store. They still lack a lot of apps but its a good start for Microsoft.
