Corsair Launches New Range of LED-Lit Vengeance RAM Kits
For those who enjoy a bit of bling in their custom rig, Corsair has put several LED-lit RAM kits on the market. The RGB colors of the Vengeance kits range across the spectrum and are fully customizable, making them a real treat for anyone looking to add that little bit extra to their rig. There are five kits in total, which differ in memory capacity and data transfer rate, with the cheapest starting out just below $200 for 16GB of RAM in total, but can get as high as over $750 for 64GB. This pricing has likely as much to do with the LEDs as with the general soaring price of random-access memory.
The Vengeance RGB kits can be broken into two groups, the DDR4-2666 and DDR4-3000. The former come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB packets — $195, $385 and $765, respectively — while the 3000 group only offers 16GB and 32GB kits at $200 and $390. Sharp-eyed consumers will have noticed that this is a lot more than something similar, albeit it LED-less, would have cost just a few years ago, but this can be attributed to the extra effects as well as the rise in hardware prices in general — and the price of RAM in particular.
Admittedly, the LED-lit RGB Vengeance sticks look great in any setup, giving any DIY rig a very cool sci-fi look. Whether or not that’s worth the price will be up to the individual buyer, but seeing as the market for outlandishly comprised PCs is bigger than ever, this should prove no obstacle to sales. It should be noted that it will be a while yet before Corsair brings out lit RAM units that have a faster data transfer speed than 3000MT/s. If you want speed and looks, you’ll have to either wait or choose one over to other.
