Destiny 2 Has Officially Been Announced
Destiny 2 is coming! The official Destiny account tweeted out a promotional poster without any text. We still don’t have a release date or more information on the game, but we know it’s coming. While the details are sparse, a promotional poster with the date September 8th set the launch date. The launch date aligns with Activision’s statement saying Destiny 2 will arrive this fall.
Bungie hasn’t released any details about the game, nor has Activision outlined what Destiny 2 would look like. All we currently know is the name of the sequel. Destiny released multiple DLCs during the game’s life. Some of the updates have radically changed the game by introducing new stories and new maps. If Destiny 2 follows the same model, then we’ll have a handful of expensive DLCs.
Destiny 2 announced through a Tweet
Earlier this year, Bungie announced the ‘Destiny 1 power, possessions, and Eververse-related items and currency would not carry forward’ into the new game. The small tidbit means Destiny 2 will operate as a separate game unlike other updates like Taken King which acted more like a DLC than a new game. At E3, we’ll likely see a trailer or gameplay of the next Destiny.
If the 2nd version of Destiny is anything like the first, we’ll see updates via DLCs instead of a new game every year. We won’t see yearly releases like Call of Duty or Battlefield. The original Destiny launched in 2014, and we’re just now getting a whole new game three years later.
Tell us in the comments below what you think Destiny 2 will look like. Also, are you going to buy the game when it launches or are you going to stick with Destiny 1?
