MEIZU Announces Fast Charging Tech That Can Charge A Phone 100% in 20 Mins
Fast Charging technology has taken off over the past year or two. The technology from VOOC and Quick Charge 4.0 allow users to charge their phones a substantial amount in 30 minutes or less. Fast charging lets you quickly stay charged even when you don’t have time to sit down and plug in. MEIZU has introduced their own fast charge technology which can charge a phone’s battery to 100% in 20 minutes while keeping all the thermals in check.
If MEIZU can pull off the feat, they’ll change how we charge phones from leaving them plugged in overnight to charging only when we need it.
MEIZU fast charge can charge a 3,000mAh Battery in Just 20 Minutes
MEIZU calls the new technology, which will compete with Quick Charge 4.0, mCharge. The company claims they improved the data cable with new circuitry in the cable. The charge rating is 11V/5A, which is higher than the Dash Charge cable from the OnePlus. Being able to deliver 55 watts to a smartphone without overheating and eventually frying the phone is black magic.
A problem with fast charging technology is the heat generated from charging will degrade the battery faster. The upgraded data cable can handle 160 watts of power, so it has to be relatively thick and durable. It also means that other cables likely won’t be able to charge the phones quickly.
MEIZU claims a 3,000mAh battery will keep more than 80 percent of its original capacity after 800 charge cycles. The stats is similar to charge cycles for current generation charging technology but still causes battery problems after a year or two. MEIZU hasn’t announced any phones that support mCharge.
Tell us your thoughts. Would you go out of your way to buy a MEIZU phone with the mCharge technology? I know I would!
