ASUS Designo Curve MX34VQ Coming ‘Soon’
ASUS has announced that its 34-inch Designo Curve MX34VQ will be coming to market “soon,” with several retailers already featuring on their digital storefronts. The new curved screen features a built-in audio system by Harman Kardon and comes equipped with a Qi wireless charger. It should sell for around $800, though this may still change.
The Designo Curve MX34VQ is not specifically aimed at gamers as it does not offer G-Sync or something similar, though that group should enjoy it well enough thanks to its 100Hz refresh rate. The monitor comes with a 34-inch VA panel, which offers a 3440 by 1440 resolution, a brightness of 300 nits, a 3000:1 contrast ratio and can reproduce up to 16.7 million colors. As the name suggests, the screen is curved (1800R) and offers a 178-degree viewing angle. Response time is a respectable 4ms.
Connecting the Designo Curve MX34VQ is done with one DisplayPort 1.2 and three HDMI 2.0 ports. Looks-wise, it’s a very attractive monitor that should fit in well in either a home office or a gaming setup for someone that feels gaming screens are a bit too much of a good thing with their aggressive look and LED lighting on the back and sides. The screen is mounted on the Qi charger, which makes it less than ideal for people with limited space, despite it being a very handy little feature.
The Designo Curve MX34VQ should be out sometime over the coming weeks and should be a decent addition to any home office setup where a very large screen is preferred. The built-in audio and Qi wireless charging pad are pretty handy gimmicks that add a lot of versatility to what looks to be a very good screen perfect for all-round use. All that remains to be seen is whether the $800 price tag seen so far is the definite one.
