Eidos Montreal Puts Deus Ex on Hold, Starts Development on Guardians of the Galaxy
Marvel fans will be happy to know that a Guardians of the Galaxy game is in the works, albeit in a very early stage of development. The game is being made by Eidos Montreal, the same studio responsible for the latest two excellent Deus Ex games. This however makes for some bittersweet reporting. The price for a game about the adventures of Star-Lord is that Adam Jensen isn’t getting a sequel any time soon.
In a statement released to Eurogamer, Eidos Montreal says that they haven’t thrown out Deus Ex completely, but will be focusing their immediate attention on at least two Marvel games. The two games being, Guardians of the Galaxy as well as the Avengers game announced last week. Though this may be a heavy blow to fans of Jensen, a stealth action game set in the Marvel universe may be a pretty good replacement for cyberpunk adventures.
Few Details Are Known About Guardians of the Galaxy
Since the new Guardians of the Galaxy has only just started development, very little is known about it. However, seeing as the sequel to the first film, as well as the new Avengers movie, is slated to come out in 2018, we can expect it to feature familiar faces. Most notably, this would include the famous characters the way they have been given form by Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana. Eidos Montreal will be working together quite closely with Marvel. It will be entirely possible the the cast of Guardian of the Galaxy will be doing some voice work. However, it should be noted this is pure speculation.
Though it is sad to hear that it will be a very long time until we hear from Adam Jensen again, any new game by Eidos Montreal is something to look forward to. That Guardians of the Galaxy will be borrowing characters and stories from one of the most well-established comic-book universes should make fans very happy.
