AKiTiO Node: Thunderbolt 3 External GPU Enclosure Priced At $299
Companies are introducing their takes on the external GPU enclosure, and the AKiTiO Node is another one of those. Two things that are interesting about this GPU enclosure are the looks and the price.
The AKiTiO Node will amp up the graphics performance of any system that has thunderbolt 3 compatibility. If you do not want a separate system for gaming and want something that will beef up the graphics performance of your laptop then this could be a solution for you.
While Razor has been selling their enclosure for some time now, that is pretty expensive and you would wonder if it is worth the extra investment. Rewind a few years and you will remember companies trying to mess around with GPU enclosures that worked with Thunderbolt 2 but that was a very expensive solution as well.
Then came the homemade solutions that were not very convenient nor were they good looking. Needless to say, people have been trying to make laptops and all in one systems more powerful with the help of external graphics cards.
The AKiTiO Node comes in at $299 and has ample space to house GPUs with big coolers. As compared to this the Razor Core comes in at $499 and the PowerColor Devil Box costs $379. Though these rival offerings do come with some additional features, at the core their primary function is the same.
AKiTiO Node is made of steel and can house full length and extra wide GPUs. This means that if your GPU has a larger cooler then you are not screwed and the AKiTiO Node will be able to house your GPU as well. Just to be sure check out the compatible GPU dimensions.
The external GPU enclosure also comes with an integrated 400 W SFX PSU and a 120 mm fan. It will be hitting the market starting December this year. What do you think about the Node?
