Sony PS4 Pro Review Roundup: Console For The 4K+HDR Niche Market
After a long wait we finally have Sony PS4 Pro on retailer shelves and while availability may be an issue for some people others have already got the Sony PS4 Pro. How does the console hold up? The reviews are in and they are positive in general but is the Sony PS4 Pro worth the upgrade?
Sony PS4 Pro comes at a significant cost as you not only have to buy the console but also need to have a 4K display as well. If you do not have that then you are not taking full advantage of what the console has to offer. Plus one of the selling features of the Sony PS4 Pro is the enhanced games on PSVR. If you are not taking advantage of these features than you are not using all the power that the console has to offer.
Is Sony PS4 Pro a must have upgrade as compared to the normal Sony PS4? I have to admit that the Sony PS4 Pro does have improvements over the original version that came out a few years ago. While that is the case most people are still using 1080p displays as 4K displays are very expensive. I do not see 4K displays getting cheaper any time soon.
Because of the expensive nature of 4K displays and seeing how most of the world still uses 1080p TVs I do not think that this is a must have upgrade. But there is a market for this console needless to say. A niche market, but a market none the less.
This console is for the people that want a 4K gaming experience in the living room and they can afford to pay the money for it. This is for people that already own a 4K display or are about to make the shift. It all comes down to whether or not you consider making the shift to 4K worth it or not. If yes then the Sony PS4 Pro is a console that is for you.
If you get the flow then you will understand by now that this is more of an enthusiast console rather than something for everyone to enjoy. There will be people for whom the price for just gaming will not be justifiable. Besides gaming, you do also get 4K support for streaming apps like YouTube and NetFlix.
45 PS4 Pro enhanced games have been confirmed for this year and most of them were present at launch. Still, there are plenty of inconsistencies here and then when it comes to the resolution and FPS in-game. While some games allow you to change setting easily others do not have this option. While some games give you better FPS others give you better graphics instead and lock FPS.
