AMD Radeon RX 470D Review And Benchmarks
The AMD Radeon RX 470D has been released in China and this GPU will be filling the gap between the RX 470 and the RX 460. In addition to that, this GPU will be priced to compete with the GTX 1050 Ti. Here we are going to compare the AMD Radeon RX 470D with the RX 460, RX 470 as well as the GTX 1050 Ti from the green team to see how well te GPUs stacks up in its strategical positioning and whether or not AMD has made the right choice with this move.
The AMD Radeon RX 470D is more powerful than the GTX 1050 Ti and just a little but expensive so you can see why someone would want to buy one. But then again the GTX 1050 Ti consumes less power so there is a selling point for team green as well. Here are some benchmarks to give you a better idea regarding how the AMD Radeon RX 470D stacks up against the competition.
3D Marks scores make it pretty clear that the AMD Radeon RX 470D beats both the GTX 1050 and the 1050 Ti and the difference between the AMD Radeon RX 470D and original 470 is not significant.
Hitman also shows a similar result as you can see the significant edge the AMD Radeon RX 470D has over the GTX 1050 Ti but you also have to notice here that the difference between the D version and the original version of the RX 470 is not all that great. Just a few frames.
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a beautiful game and while the GTX 1050 Ti hardly makes it close to 60 FPS we see that the AMD Radeon RX 470D manages to keep a decent FPS over the 60 FPS mark.
Battlefield 1 is one of the best games of the year and we can see that the AMD Radeon RX 470D manages to keep the FPS well above 60 FPS this could mean that you can crank up the setting and you have more room for improvements. Something to keep in mind when buying this GPU.
Here the AMD Radeon RX 470D draws more power than the GTX 1050 series GPUs but less than what the original 470 consumed. If you are touchy about TDP then I can see why the 1050 Ti could have a bit of an edge here but for the power that you are going to trade off, I do not think that choosing the 1050 Ti over the AMD Radeon RX 470D would be the right move here.
The above numbers show you the price to performance ration of the GPUs. You can see that although the AMD Radeon RX 470D may not be the best value for money it is still great value for money. Being an RX 470 cut down GPU at the end of the day you are not losing too much of the power but you are cutting down on the money you spend. Something every gamer likes to hear.
If you are in China or have a contact there that can get you one of these I see no reason why not.
