PlayStation VR Sales: Hundreds Of Thousands Of Units Sold So Far
Sony has finally released the PlayStation VR to the general public and this raises the question; How successful is the PlayStation VR? If PlayStation VR sales are any indication of how successful the product is then CNBC claims that it is pretty successful and that Sony is confident that this will not be an initial sales boost but something that will be continuous. Why is this you ask? We will tell you that.
One of the factors to consider here is the price of the PlayStation VR. PlayStation VR sales are high because it is competitively priced against the competitors like HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift. Another factor to consider when talking about the PlayStation VR sales is the release of the Batman VR game that you can play with PlayStation VR.
Another factor to look at here when it comes to PlayStation VR sales is that here are already 40 million PS4 units worldwide that have been sold so PlayStation VR just happens to build upon that. People that have the PS4 can easily and readily buy the PlayStation VR headset and enter the world of VR gaming and entertainment. So you can see why PlayStation VR sales are on the rise and why PlayStation VR is selling so well at the moment.
Sony is considering increasing the capacity of the PlayStation VR production in order to keep up with the demand for the product. According to Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe President and Chief Executive, Jim Ryan:
“We have made decisions to further increase capacity at the back end of 2016 and into 2017, so there are going to be a lot of PlayStation VRs around the world, whether that’s enough to satisfy the demands of the market, we’ll see”.
The specs of the PSVR are as follows:
- 5.7-inch OLED display
- 1080p resolution
- 120Hz refresh rate
- Low latency under 18ms
- Positional tracking
- 360-degree head-tracking
- 3D audio
- 100-degree field of view
Do you think that PlayStation VR sales can keep its momentum or will the hype die down?
