Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 Has Two Different Versions
Back in 2014, Qualcomm released two processors the 808 and 810. It seems like the company is going to be doing the same with the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 830. One would be numbered a bit higher than the other.
Qualcomm is going to stick to that exact strategy. We do not know as of right now what will be the difference between two Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processors. We do know as a fact that there will be two different SoC chips.
Taking a look at something more recent, even the Snapdragon 820 had two versions. Although this fact has not been widely communicated there was also a Snapdragon 820 “lite”. This version of the processor was featured in the Xiaomi Mi5 phone. The lite was slower than the normal 820 as the name already gives away.
Word has it that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 will have the following features:
- Eight Kryo 200 cores
- Adreno 540 GPU
- Support for LPDDR4X memory
- Snapdragon X16
- 1 Gbps capable modem
- LTE Cat 16 (1000Mbit/s) download and LTE Cat 13 (150Mbit/s) upload speeds
The Snapdragon 820 turned out to be very successful and the re-release, the 821 made its way into many prominent phones of 2016. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 could also get a faster version at the end of 2017. But all this is just speculation and we are still waiting for more news regarding the matter.
The new processor will be bringing some new features to the table and we can expect something related to VR as more and more companies are looking into mobile VR applications.
