Microsoft Admits To PC Superiority Over Consoles Of Today
For those of you in their right mind, this is a no-brainer. Of course, PC superiority over consoles of today cannot be questioned. The latest consoles including the Xbox One S or the PS4 Pro are no matches for the PC. You can build a PC in the same price range and still do a lot more than gaming on those systems. There are a couple of arguments console gamers will bring to the table in this debate but deep down inside even they know that PC superiority cannot be doubted.
Microsoft’s Senior Director of Product Management & Planning, Albert Penello, in an interview, stated the following:
In the last five years, there’s been a real renaissance in PC gaming, and that’s happening with Nvidia and AMD investing in really high-end performance – to the point where PCs have eclipsed consoles much more significantly than ever before. In fact consoles used to lead PCs and it would take a while for them to catch up.
Although PC superiority cannot be questioned and the big name itself has agreed to this, there is still a market for consoles. It has to be seen that the consoles that have been introduced recently cannot even compete with mid-ranged GPUs. Unless there is a significant increase in performance from the console side, I do not see a reason why people would continue to buy them over the years.
One thing to consider here is that consoles are being refreshed more rapidly than ever. You could buy a PC and it would last you for at least 4-5 years without making any significant upgrades. On the console side of things, you would have to buy a new one every 2-3 years in order to stay tuned with times.
I have been a console gamer for a long time now. I started from the PlayStation 2 and have recently sold my Xbox One. Even someone like me is switching to PC now.
