AMD FreeSync Technology Might Be Coming To TVs As Well
The AMD FreeSync Technology helps prevent screen tearing when gaming and this is really helpful. But this has been bound to computer monitors as a few TVs come with the display port that is compatible with the AMD FreeSync Technology. This does make sense if you think that gaming is strictly for the PC monitors but that is no longer the case.
The emerging trend is that people are also using their PCs in the living room so that they can enjoy content and media on the big screens. AMD FreeSync Technology in TVs could be a very exciting and useful feature not only for PC gamers but for console gamers as well.
In a recent talk, AMD Senior Vice President and Chief Architect Raja Koduri said:
“We are definitely working with the entire display community on getting FreeSync to more places.”
He was hesitant with the details that he could share with the public though:
“I think this is something we should follow up…on what we can share at this point on FreeSync TVs.”
Although consoles are FPS capped I believe that they could still benefit from the AMD FreeSync Technology. Having heard that I am sure that the company is working on something for the big screen as well. We would like to have such a feature of TVs as the trend of gaming as well as content viewing is no longer bound to PC monitors and is shifting to the big screens with the passage of time. I believe that this would be a great time to release the AMD FreeSync Technology for TVs as well.
What do you think about AMD FreeSync Technology for TVs? Would you benefit from this feature?
