Rumor: AM4 Motherboards For Zen, Bristol Ridge Coming In October
If you are keeping up with the latest trends then you should know pretty much all there is about the AMD Zen processor by now. You would also know then that it features the AM4 socket. So it was just a matter of time before manufacturers started making AM4 motherboards before AMD Zen and Bristol Ridge came out.
Well, here you have it folks, although this is still a rumor and we are waiting for confirmation from vendors and AM4 motherboards makers. Rumor has it that AM4 motherboards will be coming out this October. Bristol Ridge APUs for desktops will be coming out around the same point so it makes perfect sense that AM4 motherboards will be made available before the launch. Without these AM4 motherboards, the processors would be pretty much useless.
AMD Zen processors will be coming out soon after that, most probably early 2017. Although this release date holds, AMD Zen processors will be made available for a limited number of people and enterprises this year as well. It will be later on released for the general public and consumers.
AMD claims that AMD Zen processors will be on display at CES 2017 in January. We are all looking forward to taking a look at this new tech and what AMD is bringing to the market. There has been a lot of hype around this product and we would like to see what kind of potential it has in real world tests.
Usually, APUs have their own socket type but AM4 motherboards will support both APUs and CPUs so that is some great integration right there. This CPU-APU cross-compatible socket opens up new doors for the future. We heard rumors about a GPU and CPU chip being worked on and that it could be a possibility with AMD Zen coming out really soon. This is the kind of innovation we expect from AMD and we hope to get what we expect.
