Two-Factor WhatsApp Authentication Might Be Coming Out Soon
Two-Factor authentication is a big step forward and many apps and websites have already adopted this security measure. Two-Factor Authentication has been adopted by WordPress as well as Gmail. Now, there is word that two-factor for WhatsApp authentication could also be a thing in the near future.
A series of files found in the APK of the WhatsApp Beta version point towards two-factor WhatsApp authentication. On the other hand, we already know that when you install the app on a new phone, there is already a WhatsApp authentication process. Plus, there is nothing wrong with it and it works fine. So why would the developers be going for two-Factor for WhatsApp authentication? That is a very good question.
We are all in the same boat here as none of us are sure why the developers are going for this security measure. WhatsApp also backup messages and chats so it is possible that this security measure is only for when you are recovering those backups.
WhatsApp also started their end to end encryption on all chats. This also adds security and keeps the conversation personal. I do not think that they are going to need this feature anytime soon. I have not needed this feature and I doubt anyone else will be needing it either. Still, if they want to add it in they can do it. There is nothing wrong with additional security.
It could be that the developers are just paranoid, maybe. This seems to be overkill to me. What do you think about this new security measure that might be coming to WhatsApp? Have you ever felt the need for it?
If you are someone like me then I know that the answer is no. But if yes then let us know why. I am sure there are some interesting answers out there to why this security measure should be introduced.
