The World’s First Mini-STX Motherboard Introduced By ASRock
We heard rumors of the world’s first Mini-STX motherboard back in January and now it is here. This one has been released by ASRock and it is the first of its kind. But more are to follow. Companies like MSI and ECS have also released STX products which limit the CPU to 65W.
The mini-STX motherboard uses the standard LGA 1151 CPU socket and mounting system. The mounting system for the coolers is the same as well so you do not have to worry about that at all.
The mini-STX motherboard supports M.2 SSDs and it also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules. It also has three USB 3.0 ports. You also get two SATA 6Gbps. The Mini-STX Motherboard uses laptop DDR4 memory.
These mini-STX Motherboards are really cool for small form factor builds. As hardware is getting more powerful, it is now possible to fit a lot of power into a small amount of space. We have already seen what we can do with mini ATX, and now we will see what people come up with using this mini-STX motherboard.
This mini-STX motherboard will allow the user to make really small form factor PCs and this will be a game changer in the PC market. Recent reports suggested that the PC market is on the decline and even if that is the case we still see companies making great progress in the market. This mini-STX motherboard is a great example of that.
With these smaller motherboard, PC builders will be able to make console killer that is even smaller than consoles themselves. This can also lead to new generation of properly powerful mini PC. Yes, I know there are mini PCs on the market right now, but let’s face it they are not really for daily use unless you do not do anything besides browsing the internet.
What do you think about these new series of really small motherboards? Will they be successful in the market?
