Gears of War 4 PC Exclusive Features Detailed By Developers
The Coalition has revealed Gears of War 4 PC exclusive features in a recent interview with Eurogamer. Judging from the wide variety of options and features available to PC users, Gears of War doesn’t seem like just a simple port and it looks like developers are putting some considerable hours behind it.
According to Mike Rayner, The Coalition’s technical director, Gears of War 4 PC exclusive features will ensure users who buy the games specifically for PC as well as those utilizing the Play Anywhere program get a highly optimized and customizable experience above everything else.
Since Microsoft’s Universal Windows Platform was updated to allow for vsync support, Gears of War 4 will be making full use of that to prevent any tearing while also keeping the frame rate unlocked that PC gamers expect from the titles from the start.
Gears of War 4 is built on Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 which combined with The Coalition’s modifications will help players take full advantage of their multi core CPUs, alleviating it from being restricted by CPU constraints so that high end GPUs can fully shine and deliver amazing quality visuals.
Unlike the Xbox One version, the singleplayer on PC will also not be locked to 30fps. Users should also be able to fully remap their keyboard/mouse controls.
Some other Gears of War 4 PC exclusive features include support for dynamic resolution and field of view allow players to select any resolution they desire in their choice of aspect ratio, even ultra-wide. Textures will also have higher resolution, even up to 4K in some cases.
Rayner also said that the video tweaking options for PC players will be quite extensive although there is no word on exactly what options will be available. There is a however a benchmark mode for players to test out their chosen settings before jumping into the actual game.
