Rise of the Tomb Raider Gets DX12 Multi-GPU Support with new Update
For a long time now you had to choose between whether to go with Nvidia or AMD for GPU solutions. You could not have both. Both sides offered different features. You could not get all the features, the best of both worlds even if you wanted to. But now with DX12 Multi-GPU Support, things are different. You will no longer need to make that hard choice. Rise of the Tomb Raider is one of the first games to get this DX12 Multi-GPU Support.
Yes, you read that right, Rise of the Tomb Raider update enables DX12 Multi-GPU support. This means you can have an AMD GPU as well as Nvidia GPU in your rig and you can play Rise of the Tomb Raider with the new driver update.
There may be only a small number of people that want both these GPUs in their system but it is great to know that you can have such a setup if you wanted to.
Recently we saw that there was no performance improvement in Rise of the Tomb Raider with DX 12. This might change with this new update and DX12 Multi-GPU support. Even though DX12 is supposed to increase in-game performance we are yet to see a significant increase.
It is safe to say that we are not getting the performance increase that we expected. but those were early benchmarks and with the passage of time we may see an improvement in the performance with DX12 as well as DX12 Multi-GPU support.
I think a few years back no one thought they would ever see a day when AMD GPUs would be working with an Nvidia GPU. but we have got that now. Similarly, I guess that DX12 will also get better with the passage of time. Let’s see what the end result of all this turns out to be.
