Seagate Innov8 is an 8TB USB Powered Desktop Hard Drive for $349
Running out of space on your PC and still want more data with you? This 8TB external desktop hard drive from Seagate might just be the thing for you. The Seagate Innov8 – impressively named – is coming out in April to stores near you.
This monster of an external hard drive does not require an external power supply to run it, all it needs comes to it through the single USB 3.1 connection it has.
Seagate boasts of the desktop hard drive for being powered by USB-C port since it is the first 8TB drive to do so:
Innov8 is the first 8 TB USB-C powered external desktop storage solution on the market. A single, reversible USB-C cable powers the Innov8 and provides easy access to the massive 8 TB of storage. Just connect Innov8 to your computer and you are set.
Seagate Innov8 ditches the need for external power supply through a technology that they call the Ignition Booster. Calling it “a true engineering milestone and breakthrough,” Seagate says that the technology works just like a car’s ignition which is required just to start up.
That being said, Seagate has not yet launched the Seagate Innov8 yet, but they have given us a price and a release window. You will be able to get your hands on the 8TB hard drive in April, if you are willing to pay $349 for it.
