Dell has announced new Dell Precision desktops for viewing and creating VR content for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
According to Dell, the new Precision desktops will be equipped with Intel’s Xeon E5-2600 v4 chips as well as high-end graphics card. Furthermore, the Precision Tower desktops will support up to 4TB of SSD storage and 1TB of DDR memory.
When it comes to graphics cards, consumers will have a choice among Quadro M6000, Quadro M5000, a GTX 970, a GTX 980, FirePro W9100, or AMD Radeon R9 390X.
Coming to installed operating system, consumers will again have a choice among Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, or Linux. Furthermore, to dissipate the heat, water cooling is also applied!
Lastly, Dell has also confirmed that the Precision desktops contain a total of 22 profiles which will enable users to enhance system performance and auto-tune them for specific tasks such as application engineering, VR content, or editing.
One thing to note here is that while the Precision desktops are meant to create and edit VR content for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, these VR headsets will not ship with these PCs and must be bought separately.
While we do not have anything on the pricing details, Dell Precision desktops are scheduled to start shipping starting on Apr. 05, 2016.
