Xiaomi Mi5 Expected To Be Unveiled On October 19
A lot of information has been pouring in recently about Xioami’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Mi5. Initially it was believed that the phone would be the first device that comes equipped with a Snapdragon 820 out of the box; even though Qualcomm has said Snapdragon 820 powered devices won’t be available until March 2016.
According to Chinese analysts, the Xiaomi Mi5 could be arriving as soon as December, with an expected official unveiling on October 19th. Recently, a report came in saying that Xiaomi would announce that that Mi5 will ship with MediaTek’s deca-core Helio X20 instead of a Snapdragon 820.
Xiaomi’s Weibo account just posted an invitation for a press event scheduled for October 19 and most likely we’re going to see the Mi5 make a debut. The device is expected to have a 5.2-inch display with 1080×1920 resolution and possibly even QHD. The phone will be powered by 4GB of RAM with an internal storage of 16/32GB and possibly even 64GB.
The camera is expected to be 16MP along with a 8MP front facing camera. For connectivity, the device will feature a USB Type-C port and a fingerprint sensor. If a Snapdragon 820 based variant does get released sometime down the line, it will most probably feature Qualcomm’s Ultrasound fingerprint technology.
The Xiaomi Mi5 is expected to be priced around $315.
