EZTV Creator Walks Away After Hostile Takeover
If you were planning to spend time watching EZTV this weekend, you will have to find a different activity. One of Internet’s biggest TV pirates was the victim of a hostile takeover recently, which led to the website going down.
Moreover, after the attack caused them to lose several domain names and other key data, the creator “NovaKing” walked away from his creation. The organization worked for over a decade and became one of the most visited websites of its kind, but fortunately for content creators, its run has come to an end.
So what exactly happened? The problems started when .IT registry scrapped their domain, due to false Whois information. On top of that, the domain “EZTV.it” was then put up for sale which led to it being grabbed by scammers.
The group who attacked, was prepared and registered the UK company EZCloud, which is the name NovaKing had originally registered EZTV. At the start, this wasn’t an issue as the website moved to .ch domain.
However, things started to go bad!
Through the EuroDNS registrar, the scammers also took over EZTV.Se domain by using EZCloud details and fake director name.
NovaKing tried to stop this from happening by contacting the registrar, but he was asked to get a court order. Furthermore, the .se domain was linked to NovaKing’s mailbox, which allowed the scammers to gain access to domain registrar account and other services for which they changed all passwords.
Hence, NovaKing was thrown out and lost control of his domain names. To complete their take over, the scammers eventually gained access to .ch as well.
Over a decade of NovaKing’s work was taken from him in a few days. He has the option to start over, but he decided not to.
The scammers are pretending to be the real deal and are reaching other torrent sites using NovaKing’s email addresses. However, these sites are smart enough to understand what’s going on and have suspended official EZTV uploader accounts.
