New Facebook Tweak Gives More Importance to Your Friends
Attention all Facebook users, the popular social media website is rolling out new changes to its News Feed. The new changes will put more focus on posts, shares, pictures and other activities of your friends.
Posts from the pages you like or follow, will be given less priority in the News Feed. Facebook product manager Max Eulenstein said that users are worried about missing important posts and updates from friends. These posts get clouded by pages you follow/liked, which is now going to change.
The social media giant wrote in a blog post:
Content posted directly by the friends you care about, such as photos, videos, status updates or links, will be higher up in News Feed so you are less likely to miss it. If you like to read news or interact with posts from pages you care about, you will still see that content in News Feed. This update tries to make the balance of content the right one for each individual person.
Further, there are posts which show in your News Feed because your friends have liked or commented on them. The latest algorithm tweak will make this happen less now. Sometimes such posts really become annoying as you’ve never even wanted seeing the stuff your friend has liked or commented on. It happened a lot to me and I felt angry sometimes because some pages showed up that were offensive.
However, there are people who like to see what their friends have been doing. So, these type of posts will appear lower down in the News Feed, Facebook noted.
Also, Facebook will allow you to see more than one post from the same source in a row. You can read more about the changes and improvements in the link given above.
