Unity 5 Could Get Project Morpheus Support Soon
According a new report, Unity 5 may be getting Project Morpheus support soon. I would literally have tears of joy if that happens, we would get to see some amazing VR projects in the future.
Over past few years, free development engines and VR devices have gained a lot traction among fans. We have also seen some amazing projects and lots more are in the works. Development engines like Unity 5 are free for creators but with some strings attached.
Unity 5 is yet to offer support for some major VR devices but it looks like Sony’s Project Morpheus support is on the cards.
The news came from Unity’s 2015 Unite Conference in Japan, where they held a session with plenty of focus on Project Morpheus.
Project Morpheus is planned for an early 2016 release but a final release date is yet to be announced. If this news is indeed true, developers would want the support to roll out soon. This will allow to them to prepare for the eventual release of Morpheus.
Sony announced their VR device a while ago and Unity support will surely make it more popular among developers. The device is a capable one, with a 1080p OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
It also features a projection mode, to simulate games running at 120 fps in-HMD. When in reality, they are running at 60 fps on console.
Price is yet to be revealed but we have heard from sources that it will be affordable for average gamers.
