Samsung Being Sued For Exploding Galaxy Note 9 Smartphone
The Galaxy Note 7 was one of Samsung’s biggest failures ever, as a large amount of the phones would explode due to a massive production error. Luckily, the company has since rectified that with the release of the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy Note 9 as both devices were praised by critics and public.
However, one owner of the large Note 9 smartphone isn’t happy at all with the purchase of the flagship smartphone. Reportedly, one of the Note 9 devices exploded in a purse, according to the New York Post. A woman was standing in the elevator and heard a loud, sharp and whistling noise, after which smoke and fumes emerged from her purse. The woman also claims that she injured her hand when she tried to take out the smartphone due to the heat.
Luckily, the woman stayed calm inside the elevator and she received help at the building lobby. The woman is now suing the Korean company for this incident and requests a compensation for the damages that she suffered. It’s unknown how large the compensation is that she’s aiming for, although it probably will be quite substantial. The woman is also requesting a restraining order in the States to prevent the sales of the Galaxy Note 9 smartphone for everyone.
Given that the Note 9 smartphones from Samsung have been released for quite a while now and no other severe incidents have been reported, it’s very likely that this exploding device is a specific incident, and not a mass production defect which was the case with the Note 7.
“We have not received any reports of similar incidents involving a Galaxy Note9 device and we are investigating the matter,” a representative for the company stated.
