Google Set To Unveil Pixel 3 Smartphones On October 9th
Google has officially sent out its invites for a press event that’s being held on October 9th in New York. It’s not exactly a hidden secret anymore that Google is working on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, both of which have been very extensively leaked on the internet months before an official announcement. The invite reads “I >3 NY”.
The announcement date is somewhat of a surprise, as both previous Pixel phone unveilings have occurred on October 4th. The company usually releases the smartphones a couple of months after they’re announced, and we expect no different for the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL.
In terms of specifications, plenty of details have already been released as phones have been spotted and in some cases, even thoroughly tested in the wild. The regular Pixel 3 will have a 5.4-inch AMOLED display with a 1080p+ resolution, while the Pixel 3 XL features a rather large notch and a larger 6.7-inch display with higher 1440p+ resolution.
Both of the new phones will ship with the brand new Android 9.0 Pie operating system and will feature a single camera set up at the back. Both flagships will be running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 system-on-a-chip.
Despite all of the leaks, it’ll be interesting to see if the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will have any surprises in store and how they’ll stack up against the competition, such as the recently announced iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR.
