Asus shows FX505 and FX705 TUF gaming laptops
ASUS has shown a number of new high-end gaming laptops which are set to release in December, just in time for the holiday period. The company has shown both the FX505 and FX705 TUF models, equipped with a 15.6 inch and 17-inch screen, respectively. Notably, there will only be one available configuration for both models.
The smaller FX505GM model is equipped with the Intel Core i7 8750H hexacore processor accompanied by 16 gigabytes of RAM. The IPS display has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and has a high refresh rate of no less than 144 Hz. A GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB of VRAM takes care of the graphical performance. In terms of storage, the notebook will come with 128 GB of PCIe NVMe SSD storage as well as a regular 1 TB hard drive for data storage. Weighing in at 4.85 pounds, the FX505GM is exactly a very portable device, but a rather thick and heavy powerhouse instead.
Interestingly, the larger 17-inch version of this laptop is actually being positioned lower, as it only comes with a 60 Hz IPS display and a less powerful GTX 1050 graphics card with four gigabytes of video memory. The NVMe SSD has received a bump to 256 GB compared to the 15-inch version. The CPU and RAM are the same, and weight has increased to 5.75 pounds.
The ASUS FX705 (17) will carry a price tag of around $1,399 while the more powerful ASUS FX505 will retail for $1,479.
