GoPro Will Release New Action Cameras This Holiday Period
Although specific details are yet to be announced, GoPro has confirmed that it’s currently working on a new line-up of action camera’s that will release in time for the holiday period. The company will introduce new cameras with price tags between 199 and 299 dollars.
The news was officially announced in an Earnings Call with investors. The announcement of the new camera’s is relatively surprising, as GoPro has just introduced a new version of its popular Hero camera a couple of months ago. The current Hero model, which comes with a $199,99 price tag, is able to record videos in 1440p resolution at 60 frames per second.
The earnings report indirectly mentions that GoPro is working on a new Hero model. An upgrade that would allow users to capture footage at 4K would be most logical. It’s also likely that the more high-end action cameras such as the Hero 6 Black and the Hero 5 Black Edition will receive new versions.
Despite being known as a popular brand in the action camera market, GoPro hasn’t been doing too well financially. They’ve gathered a revenue of 283 million USD in the previous quarter, with a general loss of 37 million dollars – significantly more than the company’s financial results from the previous year.
