Microsoft Will Unveil New Xbox Hardware At Gamescom
Even though the European Gamescom press conferences are often lackluster when it comes to major announcements compared to E3 which usually occurs a couple of months earlier, but it looks like Microsoft has some pretty significant Gamescom plans. The Redmond company has promised to show ‘new Xbox hardware’ at the large gaming event.
Tune in for lots of news, new Xbox One bundles and accessories, and features on upcoming titles that we can’t wait to tell you more about and perhaps even a few surprises!
Microsoft would announce and present this new hardware during an Inside Xbox press live stream on August 21st. All of the Xbox announcements will occur in this Inside Xbox video as the company doesn’t have a press conference scheduled this year. Notable, the Xbox blog post above has been slightly altered. It previously strongly emphasized new hardware, which has now been replaced by the text “bundles and accessories” and “a few surprises.”
The company likely won’t announce any new consoles, but it’s likely that we’ll see an improved version of the Xbox Elite Controller, which was first released back in 2016. Images of a newer variant have recently leaked, showing the controller using a USB-C connection instead of Micro-USB, with full support for Windows 10 as well over Bluetooth. According to reputable Microsoft reporter Paul Thurrott, the new Elite controller will also feature a carrying cradle that will double as a charger.
Gamescom takes place between August 21st and 25th in Cologne, Germany. The first day is limited to press and industry members, while the four others days are available for the general public as well.
