Biostar Shows TB250-BTC D+ Mining Motherboard
It appears that the crypto mining craze hasn’t reached its peak yet, despite the hard crash of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies these past few months. Mainboard manufacturer Biostar has introduced the TB250-BTC D+ motherboard, which is specifically aimed towards system builders who want are mining cryptocurrencies with GPU’s such as Ethereum or Zcash.
The long motherboard features no less than eight PCIe x16 slots, and they’re also all spaced out for dual slots so you actually fit eight graphics cards on the motherboard. The primary PCIe x16 slot features the full 16 lanes, while the other seven slots operate at an x1 speed, which is still more than sufficient for crypto mining purposes. The custom size of the motherboard measures 195 x 485 mm.
As the name suggests, the Biostar TB250-BTC D+ uses Intel’s relatively inexpensive B250 chipset for LGA 1551 CPUs such as processors from the Skylake or Kaby Lake generation. In terms of other features, the mainboard is fairly barebones with only one so-DIMM DDR4 slot, one M.2 slot, and a single SATA port.
Although an official price hasn’t been announced yet, retailers are expecting a recommended price tag of around $150, which puts it in the same leagues as comparable mining motherboards.
