Want the best iMac Pro You Can Get? It Will Cost You
Apple recently announced the latest in its line of iMac Pros. Starting at $4,999, the latest iMac Pro is clearly meant for a niche market, but that price is only the cost of entry. If you want the best iMac Pro that money can but then you’re going to be looking to spend $13,847.98.
That price point gets you a copy of Final Cut Pro X, a 2.3GHz Intel Xeon W processor with Turbo Boost up to 4.3GHz, a 4TB hard drive, 128GB of 2666MHz DDR4 ECC memory, and a Radeon Pro Vega 64 with 16 GB of memory.
Those hoping to save a bit of money by adding extra storage or memory themselves are out of luck. In order to get that extra 32GB of ECC memory, you’ll have to pay $800. The most expensive version of this RAM that we could find on Amazon cost a little over $460 dollars which is nearly half of what Apple charges. Unfourantely, there’s no way to access the inside of the iMac Pro so if you need the extra memory or storage space, you’re going to have to pay Apple’s price for to get it.
By this point, we imagine even the most hardcore Apple fan knows that you can get better or equivalent hardware for cheaper from another manufacturer or building it yourself. Of course, when it comes to Apple products, the hardware isn’t everything. Plenty of Mac fans prefer Apple for its operating system, ease of use, custom software or any number of features that can only be found on an Apple product.
Those who are willing to shell out this kind of cash for Apple’s fastest computer, can find it on the company’s website. The company offers 24-month financing options and the computers should arrive within one to two weeks after you’ve made your order.
