Asus launches the LGA2066 Motherboard
Asus has released a new motherboard in its LGA2066 workstation-class motherboard series with the WS C422 Pro SE. The board is identical to the WS X299 Pro SE, but is based on Intel’s C422 chips. The board is built with workstation users in mind and features support for single-socket Intel Xeon W CPUs which is an enterprise version of the Skylake-X processor.
The motherboard will feature support for 512 GB of ECC quad-channel DDR4 memory. In the comment sections of the article, some users questioned Asus’s decision to support 512GB of RAM, but it was noted that many virtual machines could make use of that kind of hardware. Beyond that it will feature support 18 CPU cores compared to the WS X299 Pro SE’s eight. Other than those features, the boards are almost identical.
This is a board aimed at enterprise work so we expect it will find a niche in enterprise and businesses.
