XFX Gives Us Our First Look at Radeon RX Vega Graphic’s Card
After a few months of speculation, we’re finally getting our first look at XFX’s Radeon RX Vega graphics cards. The cards have been in the works for a few a while now and it’s clear a lot of thought and effort went into the design. That being said, it’s clear that the look of these cards won’t be for everyone. XFX has taken their classic “X” design and applied to the body of the cards themselves.
An “X” shaped recess in the middle of the cards separates the two fans. While the look is certainly a unique one, the design does have some practical uses as well. The card’s 2x 8-pin connectors are in the middle of the device. Rather this is a positive or negative depends on your setup, but, in theory, this should allow the cards to be slightly smaller in length.
The use of two pins is a bit surprising considering that other models of the RX Vega 64 have made us of three pins. One issue that might turn a lot of people away from these cards, regardless of your thoughts on the design, are the reports that the clock speeds here are stock which is a bit surprising.
