iPhone SE 2 May Launch Early Next Year
For the most part, Apple’s products are associated with a luxury brand. The products themselves are undeniable of high-quality, but it is impossible to ignore the fact that at least some of Apple’s customers see the company’s products as status symbols as much as hardware. While this does have some benefits for Apple, it also limits their market share to people who can afford to spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on a smartphone. In fact, it is arguable that part of the reason Android phones became so successful was because they were able to fill a niche in the market that Apple was not able to fill.
In recent years, Apple has taken some steps to remedy this problem. The 2017 version of the iPad is, for the money, a better deal than most Android tablets of comparable specs and the iPhone SE has attempted to compete with mid-range Android phones. However, the SE hasn’t gotten any true upgrades in the two years since it was launched.
A new report suggests that might change soon as there are rumors that Apple will be launching a new version of the iPhone SE sometime next year. One interesting piece of information is that the SE 2 will reportedly be assembled Taiwanese manufacturer Wistron at a factory in Bengaluru, India. This is the same factory where parts of the current SE are manufactured.
There is no firm release date yet, but it is likely that the phone will launch sometime within the first quarter of 2018. The first version of the SE launched in March and Apple likes to keep the SE launch separate from the launch of flagship phones.
In terms of hardware, the rumors suggest that it will feature an A10 Fusion chip with 2GB of RAM. The device’s storage space will vary between 32GB and 128GB and the device will offer different camera options as well.
As of right now, none of these reports can be confirmed so take them all with a grain of salt.
