Leaks Show off Our First Look At Sapphire Radeon Vega 64 RX Nitro
Whether its color options, overclocking or simple brand loyalty, there are plenty of reasons that some consumers prefer to buy custom versions of GPUs rather than the standard offerings from the manufacturer. Unfortunately, this means that there’s sometimes a bit of a wait involved. However, in regards to AMD’s RX Vega, the wait appears to be nearing an end and we might see Nitro’s offerings here before Christmas.
We already know that RX Vega is a powerful graphics card, so what sets it apart from the stock model? The upcoming Vega Nitro offers 2.5 slots, a three fans and a large heatsink. The heat sink appears to be a modified version of the one Nitro used in the R9 Fury. As you can tell from the pictures, it’s a rather large card so Nitro has included a PCle bracket in order to help support the card’s weight.
In terms of aesthetics, the card features a sleek design in silver and black that makes the whole thing look very clean and professionally made, which it is. The image sent to HWBattle showed off blue LED lights on the front and back of the card. It isn’t clear if there are multiple color options or if users will have to make do with blue. The lights do look nice, but more options are always better.
One thing this leak does not answer are any questions regarding spec changes or the release date. As noted above, overclock support is one of the reasons gamers often prefer to buy cards from third parties rather than directly from the manufacturer. Nitro has announced anything regarding overclock support, but we would be disappointed if it wasn’t included.
The official launch date has not been announced, but the leaks make us suspect they are coming sometime soon. Given that the holiday season is always a busy one for retailers, we expect that Nitro will want this out sooner rather than later.
