Want To See BlackBerry’s Newest Phone? Here It Is
BlackBerry is far from the household name that it once was and the company has fallen on hard times of late. They no longer produce their own smartphones instead simply licensing their brand out to TCL. So far, the company’s attempts to enter the Android market have met with mixed success. Their Android phones haven’t been awful by any means, but nor have they given consumers much of an incentive to choose them over the countless other devices on the market.
Thanks to Evan Blass, we now have our first look at the upcoming BlackBerry Motion. The phone has not been officially announced, but the leaked image is a press render so it is possible that we’ll see an official announcement sometime soon.

Unlike some previous BlackBerry Android devices which featured physical keyboards, the BlackBerry Motion takes a more traditonal approach to smartphone design featuring a standard touchscreen display with large bezels and a physical home button. One of the upsides to the more traditonal approach is that this phone appears to have a headphone jack unlike some of the recent offerings from Apple and Google.
That being said, the device is rather plain looking. It’s very boxy and traditonal in its design. It doesn’t look bad or anything, but it doesn’t look nearly as sleek as the recently released S8 or upcoming iPhone X.
BlackBerry phones use the Android OS, but one of the draws of the devices is that they come pre-loaded with some of the company’s business-oriented hardware including security features. In a world where hacking and cybercrime are becoming increasingly common, the latter may be of particular interest to the business community that BlackBerry originally built its brand upon.
It is expected that TCL will announce the phone sometime this month so we should have more information soon.
