Apple Is Investigating Reports Of Swollen Batteries in iPhone 8 Plus
While not as flashy as the iPhone X, the iPhone 8 is still one of the best smartphones on the market. Unfortunately, the iPhone 8 Plus is having some problems with its batteries. As of the time of this writing, there have been six reports iPhone 8 Plus batteries swelling to the point of bursting out of the phone.
The story began gaining traction early last week when a number of sites such started reporting on social media images posted by frustrated iPhone owners.

Apple has confirmed that it is investigating the reports but refused to make any further comments on the matter.
Battery woes are a common problem among smartphones though few have been as explosive as the fiasco surrounding Samsung’s Note 7 which famously burst into flames on more than one occasion. Despite a recall, Samsung wasn’t able to fix the problem and eventually issued refunds to any users who owned Note 7s.
There is currently no evidence to suggest that the battery found in the iPhone 8 is going to explode. That was a rather rare case even among Note 7 devices. Explosions aside, such issues do mean that the phones will need to be replaced and the news represents a bad start for Apple’s latest iPhone.
Normally such news would be more important as iPhones tend to be among the most popular smartphones on the market, but sales of the iPhone 8 are likely a bit lower than they are for standard releases since Apple also announced the iPhone X alongside the iPhone 8. The iPhone X will be released on November 3rd and it is likely that the most hardcore Apple fans are willing to pay the higher price for the iPhone X.
