Leak May Reveal Details About Intel’s Upcoming i9 Processors
Users on the Anandtech forums have released the specs and model numbers for Intel’s upcoming line of processors. The evidence comes from a screenshot taken from a power point presentation and includes information on Kaby Lake and Skylake x processors. Most interesting of all is the fact that the post provides information on Intel’s upcoming Core i9 processors which are likely meant to compete with AMD’s Ryzen line.
Their flagship processor will reportedly be the i9 7920 x which, in confirmation of recent rumors, will be a 12-core 24-thread processor. That being said, it should be noted that the AMD’s top of the line processors will feature 16 cores and 32 threads. The core i9 processors will feature quad channel memory at 2667 MHz and 6.5 MB L3-cache and 44 available PCI-Express lanes
The Skylake line is also getting an upgrade as all of the new processors will feature 1MB L2 cache per core which is an upgrade over the current Skylake Core i7 7700k.
As far as an official announcement goes, it is unlikely that we’ll see anything at Comptuex though they may show them off behind closed doors. The i9 line isn’t expect to launch until August so Intel may be holding off on an official reveal until they have all of the details worked out.
Do keep in mind that none of this information is confirmed so it is always possible that the image cited above is a clever mock up made by someone with way too much time on their hands, but the information does line up with current rumors and expectations.
