Acer to Launch New Predator X27 Monitor
Hardcore gamers will be happy to hear about the announcement by Acer concerning a new flagship gaming monitor. The Predator X27 will feature a 4K, 27-inch IPS display and will also have Nvidia G-Sync enabled, allowing it to sync refresh rates to whatever is running at the GPU. Though its specs may make the mouth water, fans will have to wait a while yet as the company has not set a release date yet nor a price. The price tag is likely to be on the high end, however, while the release could be at any point this year.
The Acer Predator X27 will have a screen resolution of 3840 by 2160 and a staggering refresh rate of 144Hz (with a 4ms response time), figures that means the monitor will be able to handle anything thrown at it, up to and including the most demanding of next-gen games — not to mention current-gen ones. To further improve gaming performance, the monitor will also have G-Sync enabled as well as Tobii eye tracking technology.
Other specs are no less impressive: the Predator X27 can support up to 1.07 billion colors — with DCI-P3 color saturation — and have 178-degree viewing angles horizontally and vertically, making it a real pleasure to sit behind. The screen’s brightness measures 1000 nits and it has both advanced backlighting as well as local dimming, which should lower eyestrain considerably over the course of a gaming session.
The Predator X27 looks mean and lean and should complement any existing gaming setup. This finishing touch, taken together with the excellent specs, should make the new gaming monitor very popular when it comes out. Acer’s current line of similar high-end displays is doing very well, and it seems the newest addition will not disappoint in that regard.
