HTC To Unveil New Squeezable Smartphone Next Month
HTC has begun dropping hints regarding their upcoming smartphone, codenamed Ocean, prior to the launch event scheduled for May 16. It was previously reported that the device would launch under the HTC U brand and will feature a unique input method. The phone will reportedly allow users to control some functions by squeezing the device. This system has reportedly been dubbed Edge Sense.

The Ocean will be the third phone to fall under the HTC U branding. The first two, which were released in January, were the HTC U Ultra and U Play. The company has not released many details regarding the phone, but there VentureBeat has reported some rumors regarding the specs. The phone will reportedly feature a 5.5-inch WQHD screen, a Snapdragon 835 chip, and a front and rear camera.
In terms of OS, it will feature Android 7.1 which is, as of this reporting, the most recent version of the software though that might change before the Ocean hits the market.
As of right now, we don’t know too much about the Ocean aside from its unique input method. It’s a neat concept, but we don’t know enough about it at the moment. It may end up being a game changer, though, right now, it seems like it is little more than a neat gimmick.
For more information on the Ocean, be sure to check out HTC’s launch event. It will be held on May 26th at 2 a.m. EST.
