LaCie 2big Dock Features Thunderbolt 3, SD Card, Display Port And More
LaCie 2big Dock is a massive device, not size wise, but features wise. The 2big dock is an external hard drive with added ports to read SD cards, CF cards, and USB keys. Inside the LaCie 2big dock is a LaCie RAID Manager to handle IronWolf Pro enterprise-class drives frrom Seagate and RAID optimization. The internal hard drive comes in three different sizes – 12TB, 16TB, and 20TB. Even the lowest storage option includes enough space or many professionals to store photos, videos, and other large files.
LaCie hasn’t released information on pricing or availability, but we do know it’ll have a summer launch date. The 2big dock includes 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports, one USB 3.1 port, one Display port, one USB 3.0 Type port, one SD card port, and one CF card port. There is a power port on the back along with a Kingston security lock. There is more than enough storage and ports for anyone to read and store their data.
LaCie 2big dock is perfect for professionals
While the average consumer won’t need the 2big dock, professionals will love all the ports plus the massive internal storage. It’ll help photographers or videographers store and read their photos and videos. The hard drive is enterprise quality with thermoregulated Noctua fan “for professional reliability.” The external aluminum help keeps the device cool. LaCie also includes a 5-year limited warranty, which is longer than others on the market.
LaCie is marketing the dock as a way to get back all the ports Apple took away from the MacBook Pro. While laptops are slimming down and cutting ports, more external docks and dongles have been popping up. The SD card reader and CF card reader are directed at anyone using a modern camera today.
