Origin Unveils The Next In Its Series of Gaming Laptops
Origin’s EON15-S line of gaming laptops has always managed to strike a healthy balance between performance and affordability and this year’s model continues that trend though it is a bit easier on your wallet than previous models. The 2017 model features Nvidia’s 1050 TI graphics card which gives this one a small boost over last year’s edition. While not as lightweight as some notebooks, the EONI5-S’s one-inch, five-pound case makes it fairly easy to carry.
On the negative side, there is no option for a high-resolution screen. Instead, you’ll have to make do with a 15.6-inch 1,920 x 1,080 IPS display. While this may be disappointing to some people, such displays have become fairly common in recent years and the decision might have contributed to the device’s six-hour battery life.
The base model will ship with an Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU, but those looking for something a bit cheaper can choose between the i5-7300HQ or i3-7100H models if they would prefer. In terms of memory and storage, Origin says that their laptop will support 32GB of DDR4 RAM and up to six TB of storage. However, the site’s wording is a bit vague and implies that extra RAM and storage space will increase the price though we don’t know how much.
Origin also offers plenty of several options for those who want to customize their laptop such as case design that will allow customers to customize their laptop’s paint job and have their own logo imprinted on the case. The laptop will also come with software that will let users control the keyboard’s backlight feature.
Obviously, additional features such as customization options or better specs will raise the price, but we don’t know how much. Origin didn’t specify what the $999 price gets you aside from the graphics card which appears to be standard across all models.
