Nintendo Rumored to Be Considering Even More Portable Switch
Though it is a rumor at best, it seems Nintendo may be considering bringing out a smaller, even more portable version of the Switch in a bid to woo a younger audience. According to a study, this particular demographic is having trouble holding the semi-handheld console and the Japanese corporation, hellbent on making the Switch an even bigger success than it already is, is more than willing to accommodate them.
Sales of the new Nintendo console thus far have been very good; so good, in fact, that not everyone who wants one can get one. However, some younger fans have found the console too big and heavy for them, which has led Nintendo to think about making a lighter smaller version. A new, more portable Switch would probably increase sales even further and also help raise yet another generation with a Nintendo product: a win for the Japanese corporation no matter how you slice it.
It wouldn’t be the first time a console maker has decided to bring out a slimmer version of one of their products: Microsoft has the Xbox One S, which is a lighter, thinner and more powerful version of their flagship, for example. In this case, however, it is unknown whether Nintendo would also upgrade the hardware of the Switch, like Microsoft did with the One S. Some of the upgrades that would likely be welcomed by fans are to the battery life of the Switch as well as the puny Nvidia Tegra graphics card.
The switch to a portable Switch would likely be something that takes a few months to implement, however, seeing as how the rumor mill went crazy the months before the original console came out, we’ll likely be hearing a lot more about this possible new iteration of Nintendo’s latest.
