Microsoft’s E3 Project Scorpio Reveal Will Surprise Fans
During E3 Microsoft will take the wraps off the final version of Project Scorpio. Microsoft already teased a lot of what we’ll see from the console, but according to Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry, we should be pleasantly surprised at the final version of the console. While the new Xbox will keep the same design trend of the Xbox One and Xbox One S, there’s more thought into every part of the console. Richard Leadbetter, who wrote the article and was given exclusive access to the new Project Scorpio, seems genuinely impressed with the finished project.
Leadbetter claims the attention to detail is different than previous, with no wasted space inside the console. What it sounds like is Leadbetter was shown a finalized version of Project Scorpio. Whether the final version of the console is a developer kit or a consumer-ready version is unclear. The variant shown is presumably a developer kit, which is what developers like Rockstar would get to test their games on.
Microsoft will unveil the final version of Project Scorpio during E3
Sunday, June 11th is the date for Microsoft’s keynote presentation, where we’ll get a better idea what Microsoft is doing. Project Scorpio will run 4K games at 60FPS and offer a 4K Bluray player. We also know the Scorpio has a cooling system often found in elite gaming PCs. Overall, the next Xbox sounds more like a gaming computer than a gaming console. Microsoft wants the Xbox to act more like a PC, wth games working on Windows and the Xbox. While we won’t have Word or other PC apps on the Xbox, we’ll have cross-platform games.
Either way you cut it, Project Scorpio will be the most powerful gaming console to date. Sony’s PS4 Pro is less powerful and still lacks games. Microsoft will need to offer a bunch of launch titles to encourage fans to buy the console over an Xbox One S or PS4 Pro.
